Gift Boxing

What our gift boxing service includes

Our gift boxing service is meant for items that carry meaning, not just goods in a box. We prepare presentation-ready packaging for memorial keepsakes, engraved jewellery, urns, photo books and paired gift sets, so the first impression is tidy, respectful and suitable for the occasion. Each order is packed by hand in our Lynnwood studio, with attention to spacing, protection and the order in which the items are seen when the box is opened.

We use a mix of presentation box, inner wrap, protective filler and finishing elements that suit the item. For fragile or polished pieces, we add soft cushioning and a secure insert so movement is reduced in transit. For sympathy orders, we keep the look understated and clean. For celebration gifts, we can add a more decorative finish where appropriate. If your order includes engraving or a printed insert, we place it so the message is visible without handling the item too much.

  • Presentation box matched to item size
  • Protective wrap for jewellery, glass, ceramic and metal pieces
  • Soft fill to limit shifting during courier delivery
  • Insert card placement for names, dates or messages
  • Gift ribbon or neutral finish, depending on the occasion
  • Courier-safe outer packaging for nationwide delivery

How the boxing process works from order to handover

Once your order reaches us through the enquiry form, we confirm the items to be boxed and check the size, weight and finish. For example, a small pendant box needs different support from an urn or a photo book set. We then plan the internal layout, choose the outer packaging and confirm any wording that must be shown with the gift. If your order includes engraving or personalisation, we check the final proof before boxing begins.

After production and final quality checking, the order moves to boxing. Our team checks that all surfaces are clean, that protective layers are in place and that nothing can rub against the item in transit. We then close the box, apply any finish requested and prepare the courier pack or pickup bag. For customers collecting from Lynnwood, Menlyn, Brooklyn, Centurion, Silverton, Garsfontein, Montana or Midrand Pickup, the order is handed over ready to present. For courier deliveries, we pack to suit the route, with extra care for long-distance trips and humid coastal destinations.

  • Step 1: Send your enquiry with the item details and occasion
  • Step 2: We confirm box size, contents and finish
  • Step 3: Final proof approval if wording or inserts are needed
  • Step 4: Boxing, cushioning and outer courier pack are completed
  • Step 5: Pickup or nationwide delivery follows

Box sizes, finishes and protection details

Different gifts need different packing. A thin jewellery box can be boxed in a compact format, while a memorial keepsake or urn may need a deeper carton with a stable base. We work with practical measurements rather than one fixed format, because presentation must suit the object and not force it into the wrong size. The aim is a neat look with enough room for padding, but not so much space that the item moves around.

Our standard boxing details are chosen to reduce scuffing, pressure marks and corner damage. Where appropriate, we use acid-free tissue, tissue wrap or a soft protective sleeve. This is useful for items with polished metal, glossy covers or delicate printed surfaces. In Pretoria, where dry air and heat can affect some materials, we also check that adhesive finishes are secure. For courier orders sent to coastal areas, extra sealing is used to help manage humidity during transit. It is a small thing, but it saves trouble later.

  • Small format for jewellery and compact keepsakes
  • Medium format for books, plaques and paired gifts
  • Large format for urns, framed pieces and bulk family orders
  • Soft insert materials to reduce movement
  • Optional neutral, sympathy or celebration finish
  • Outer parceling suited to courier handling

Turnaround times and when to book

Gift boxing is usually arranged together with the main order, so we can keep the timing tight and avoid last-minute packing. Turnaround depends on the item type and whether engraving, printing or proof approval is part of the same order. In most cases, simple boxed orders are completed within 2 to 4 working days after final approval. Larger family orders, custom layouts or combined keepsake sets may need a little longer, especially when several names or message variations must be checked.

If you need a specific handover date for a memorial service, birthday or anniversary, it helps to mention that early in the enquiry form. We can then plan boxing, wrapping and courier collection with the date in mind. During peak periods, including month-end and school holiday travel times, courier collection can take longer, so early booking is wise. We do not rush boxing, because once a gift is handed over, the finish should still look correct after transport.

  • Simple boxing: typically 2 to 4 working days after approval
  • Custom family orders: allow a few extra days
  • Courier time is separate from production time
  • Urgent dates should be noted when you enquire

Pricing approach for boxing and presentation packaging

Pricing for gift boxing is based on the size of the item, the type of packaging needed and the level of finishing requested. A small jewellery piece in a compact presentation box costs less to prepare than a memorial gift set with layered packing and courier-safe outer protection. If your order includes ribbon, insert cards, multiple pieces or a bulk family pack, the final price is adjusted to reflect the extra materials and handling.

We prefer to quote clearly before work begins, so you know what is included. The price normally covers the inner packaging, protective materials and standard boxing labour. Extra costs only apply where there is a special insert, unusual sizing or a larger order that needs separate packing lines. For bulk family orders, we can quote per unit or as a grouped order, depending on the number of gifts and where they need to go. It keeps budgeting simpler for funerals, memorial services and family celebrations.

  • Quoted according to item size and finish
  • Standard boxing includes materials and labour
  • Extra charges only for special layouts or bulk handling
  • Bulk family orders can be priced as one grouped order

Keeping boxed gifts in good condition

Once a gift has been boxed, the packaging should be kept in a dry place away from direct sun and heavy stacking. This matters for keepsakes, printed items and jewellery with polished surfaces. If the gift is being stored before a memorial service or special date, we suggest checking the box every 6 to 12 months for signs of moisture, dust build-up or loose ribbon. In homes near the coast, or in rooms without much ventilation, a quick check every 3 to 6 months is useful.

If the box is part of a keepsake set, avoid opening and closing it too often unless needed. Repeated handling can flatten tissue, loosen adhesive corners or mark delicate surfaces. For long-term storage, keep the outer parcel flat where possible and do not place heavy items on top. If you want a refresh after storage, we can advise on re-boxing or replacement packaging for a later handover.

  • Store in a cool dry cupboard
  • Avoid direct sun and damp areas
  • Check every 6 to 12 months, or sooner near the coast
  • Do not stack heavy items on boxed keepsakes
  • Ask for re-boxing if the gift must be stored again
